CSW62 Media Zone: Voices of Rural Women

New York, NY, February 21st, 2018 – The PVBLIC Foundation, PCI Media Impact and NGO CSW/NY have joined forces to produce the Media Zone: Voices of Rural Women at the upcoming 62nd Commission on the Status of Women Forum (CSW 62). The Media Zone, taking place on March 14th, aims to amplify the voices and concerns of rural women globally by sharing inspirational stories of selected attendees at CSW 62 and other key people from the international community working for the advancement of rural women and girls.

Susan O’Malley, Chair, NGO CSW/NY, comments: “In the spirit of leaving no one behind, the NGO CSW (Committee on the Status of Women)/NY is amplifying the voices of rural women from the Global South and Global North through interviews at our Media Zone. Stories of Mama Kits to prevent mothers from dying in childbirth, rural women farmers in Trinidad and Tobago organizing to overcome climate change and a local chief form Kenya working with Men’s Champions for Women’s Leadership fighting for security of land tenure will be sent out through the media to educate people about the concerns of rural women.”

The experiences and insights of the Media Zone’s participants will be captured in short video-interviews, to be shared through social media and other digital platforms in order to engage global citizens as well as journalists and influencers around the world to join the important conversations happening at the Forum. Additionally the Media Zone will welcome editors, bloggers, influencers and content creators to communicate the Forum discussions as a call to action for humanity to engage in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls.

Sean Southey, CEO, PCI Media Impact, shares: “PCI Media is delighted to be part of the NGO CSW’s outreach. In our work, mobilizing stories for social change, we are passionate advocates for putting women’s voices front and center. Only by listening to the wealth of experience and wisdom of women worldwide can we hope to implement lasting and sustainable solutions to the challenges facing the world today.”

The NGO Committee on the Status of Women, NY (NGO CSW/NY), supports the work of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women and UN Women. NGO CSW/NY represents more than 400 member organizations and individuals concerned about the status of women and girls. The committee is a volunteer-based, non-profit NGO funded largely by individual contributions.
