  • Academic Year Internship (September 2011-June 2012)
  • NGO CSW Forum Internship (December 2011-March 2012)
  • Summer Internship (June-August 2012)
About the organization

The NGO Committee on the Status of Women, New York is a coalition of nearly 100 national and international non-governmental organizations that seeks to promote economic, political, social and cultural equality for girls and women of all ages. Founded in 1972, the NGO/CSW/NY partners with the United Nation's agencies such as UN Women and in coordination with the UN Commission on the Status of Women. The NGO/CSW/NY organizes events for women ambassadors to the UN, the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and the international NGO ocmmunity.

Internship Details

The NGO/CSW/NY requires its interns be available to work for a minimum of 12-15 hours per week (2-3 days) and full time availability (minimum 30 hours per week) during the two weeks of the UN Commission on the Status of Women session (27 February to 9 March 2012). Summer interns are required to commit to at least 25 hours per week.

Requirements for all internships:

  • At least two years of undergraduate experience. however, the most successful candidates in the past have been enrolled in or have completed graduate study.
  • Background in fields of Journalism, Social Sciences, Law, Public Policy, International Relations, Marketing, Communications, Business or related disciplines preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Must be well-oranized, professional, collaborative and able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Proficiency in MAC and PC Word, Excel, etc.
Event coordination internships
  • Experience or interest in special event planning a plus.
Media and communication internships:
  • Wordpress, SurveryMonkey, MailChimp, Twitter or other social media experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of html a plus
